The Edinburgh bobbin and needle lacemaking club

The Edinburgh Lace Club celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2005 with about 50 members. Many of the original lacemakers are still with this lace group and an outline of our history can be found here.

Meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, except during July and August. Visitors to the area are welcome to join us. Our contact address is at the bottom of this page.

There are projects tackled some months, usually based on a theme – Christmas, decorative paper bobbins, crystals etc. There's an annual sale of our own superfluous lace making tools and lace pillows, bobbins and threads etc. We also hold occasional courses, the next one is in April. See the 'dates page'. The Saturday meetings are not tutor led but are an informal ‘get together’, though help and support are available. There are other groups or classes around that are ‘instruction’ led and details are given on the links page.

Many types of lace are tackled - including torchon, honiton, beds, bucks, Continental, needle and tatting.
